Joel Hasen

Joel Hasen practiced law in New York City for over 40 years, specializing in financial matters such as securities law, equipment leasing, and secured lending.  In addition to degrees from Cornell and Columbia Law, Joel holds an LLM in taxation from NYU. In Chapel Hill, as Of Counsel to The Law Firm of Donna E. Bennick, P.C., Mr. Hasen works with Ms. Bennick to analyze clients' financial positions in order to work out cost effective solutions to sometimes thorny tax problems.

During Mr. Hasen's long and varied New York City legal career, he has represented leasing companies and lenders in transactions involving computers, communications equipment and commercial aircraft, all such transactions involving significant tax issues.  Although not a tax lawyer per se, Mr. Hasen's education and experience enable him to bring an added dimension to the tax consequences involved in family law matters.
