Domestic Violence

Donna has worked with domestic violence victims for over twenty-five years. While in New York City, she served as an award-winning lecturer, trainer and mentor for pro bono attorneys aiding indigent women in domestic violence and family law matters. Donna lectured about domestic violence at the New York County Lawyers Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, as well as engaging in various pro bono programs. Domestic violence knows no socioeconomic boundaries. Donna understands the tragedy and difficulties involved, and will work diligently to help you obtain safety for you and your children.

Since 2004, Donna has lectured and trained volunteers of Chapel Hill's Family Violence Prevention Center – now the Compass Center. She works closely with the Orange County Sherriff's Department Crisis Unit and the Chapel Hill Police Department's Crisis Unit. Donna fully understands the sensitive nature of such cases and the complexities involved, both emotionally and financially, including how domestic violence impacts children.

"Donna was recommended to me by the faculty at the UNC School of Law. She proved a superb choice. My wife and I were going through a collaborative divorce process and her experience with both this process and litigation proved relevant, since she was able to provide an expert assessment of how particular issues might play out if we went to court. Professional and thorough, I felt throughout that my interests were well protected in what was an emotional and trying process. If you want a lawyer at the top of her game, you should definitely consider hiring Donna Bennick."
